Feel It in Your Bones
The town of Oymyakon, Russia, knows cold. In fact, it’s considered to be the coldest place on Earth—the lowest temperature ever recorded in an inhabited area came here in 1924, when temperatures hit minus 96 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 71 degrees Celsius). Here, a freckled resident pulls a fur hood tight to keep the cold out—at least as much as possible.
