Travellers, an ethnic minority who’ve adopted a nomadic lifestyle, have lived in Ireland for centuries but have also endured a marginalized existence. Marian Z. has been photographing Travellers as part of a recurring photo workshop. “We have [photographed] Mainey (left) and her siblings and cousins for many years now,” the Your Shot photographer explains. “At first it was difficult to gain their trust because of racism [and] ignorance … from the public. We come back every year to give them photos … and [they] allow us to photograph the rest of the family, their relatives, and clan to clan.”
