“The Fender bass was really the reason rock and roll was created in the first place,” said Wilco bassist John Stirratt. “You can imagine the sound of an early Precision Bass in a bar when all anyone ever heard was a stand-up bass. I think with iconic models in the P Bass and the Jazz Bass, there was enough room to really express yourself. I have owned many classic Fender basses, and they really evoke the same thing. There is a voice that is very similar, just a sensibility and a feel. It’s a classic piece, and there’s no need to sort of go anywhere else.”
